The Kiwanis Club of RHE and individual members have provided financial support to the local technology center, Palos Verdes on the Net (PVNet), in support of their project to supply face shields, at no cost, to local law enforcement, fire departments and health providers.
Medical workers and first responders need our help now more than ever. PVNet volunteers are working around the clock to 3D print face shields for all of the health care workers and other essential service individuals that are combating this virus on the frontlines.
Their goal is to ramp up from their present rate of 200 face shields per week to 1000 to 1500 face shields per week. The limiting factor is funding for material. PVNet has established a GoFundMe page to seek donations.

On Saturday September 8th the Kiwanis Club of Rolling Hills Estates held their annual Project Shoe Program at the local Payless Shoe Store in Torrance.
Seventy Five children ages 2 through 6 years, from the local Harbor City Boys and Girls Club, Volunteers of America, and children from military families, received a pair of shoes and a backpack containing school supplies.
Supporting the Kiwanis were high school students from the two local high school service clubs, Peninsula and Palos Verdes High Key Clubs and KIWINS.
The children were provided snacks and entertained with music and dancing. The program is unique as the children are asked to perform a task at home in return for receiving the shoes and backpack so that they understand that this is not just another free give away program.

Dr. Joyce Campbell received this from Danielle, a continuing scholar who was selected as 1 of 12 FIDM students this year for a very special international program.
Hi!
We’re only 1 month into the program, so “family” might be a stretch, but we do see each other a lot and text in the group chats daily! There’s been a certain amount of passive aggression and a struggle for leadership, but we’re doing our best to all get along and work as a team.
So far, the only travel has been field trips in the LA/Hollywood area, and to Texas for a weekend. We will be in Europe in September, while the Denim program will be visiting Japan (I’m jealous). We will have a full schedule of meetings with designers, manufacturers, and contractors, attend Paris Fashion Week and possibly Herbalife Paris 2018 or go to their Paris headquarters. Then, We’ll be in China in January for Hong Kong fashion week, a trade show, and more meetings with suppliers.
That’s cool! I studied some of those practices when I took a color class last year. I’ll keep that in mind haha. I personally love the natural/garment dye look. We have thought about sustainability, but I think we’re going to focus more on innovative finishes, fabric constructions, and versatile design. I’m planning on designing men’s wear-to-work with professional and performance fabrics, inspired by Ministry of Supply and Lawrence Hunt, merchandised for Herbalife Nutrition independent distributors (or partner this year).
Hope all is well! Thanks for thinking of me!
