On September 10th, 2022 the Kiwanis Club of RHE held their annual Project Shoe program at Sketchers in Gardena. Fifty underserved children from our community received school shoes and supplies. The children, from the Boys and Girls Club and Volunteers of America, ranged in age from 2 to 6 years old.
We would like to thank all our members and the key Club students that supported the program. Special thanks go to Sketchers who teamed with us to make this a successful program.
On Sunday, June 5th, the Kiwanis Club of Rolling Hills Estates held their annual Scholarship Brunch at the Los Verdes Golf Course. This was the twenty fourth year for this event. Twenty nine students received a combination of Scholarship and Merit Awards.
The students were selected not only for their academic achievement but for their service to community, having performed to the best of their ability and shown special “heart”.
Outstanding high school graduates represented Palos Verdes Peninsula, Phineas Banning, Port of Los Angeles, Harbor Teacher Preparation Academy, Narbonne and San Pedro High Schools.
The Kiwanis of Rolling Hills Estates has had a long history of service to the community. Established in 1996, the club strives to support our local community through scholarships and outreach programs.
We have had a great response and difficult choices to make.
On Thursday the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund Distinguished Service Award was presented to Richard Sherman by the Kiwanis Club of Rolling Hills Estates in appreciation for the many hours of service rendered for Kiwanis and the community. Congratulations, Richard! And thank you for all you have done for KRHE.
Applications will be welcomed from students planning to go to a four-year college or university as well as those planning to attend a community college or vocational program. An applicant may be called upon to be interviewed as part of the selection process.
