Hello Joyce!
I just wanted to email you to tell you about my first semester at Northeastern so far and all of the things that have been happening up to this point. First of all, Boston is everything I expected it to be and more; I really couldn’t be happier here. The fall has been beautiful and the weather here is amazing. I’m really looking forward to the winter, even though my mom is still convinced that I will freeze to death.
Anyways, moving onto the actual school part, I really enjoy it here. I find myself a lot more interested in the actual curriculum than I was in high school as I get to learn about the things I want to do with my future, which can be really exciting to think about. I’ve been doing well and getting good grades which I hope to keep up next semester as next year, I will be getting ready ready to go on what’s called a “co-op” at my school. Basically, students get the opportunity to work full-time with a company for a given semester and we get school credit for it as well; I’m really hoping to get a position with the Red Sox as I am somewhat of a baseball geek. Also, speaking of baseball, I made the university club team like I was hoping and have had a blast playing baseball with a great group of guys.
Lastly, I just wanted to thank you as well as the the rest of Kiwanis so much for the scholarship. Worrying about paying tuition can be really stressful, but with you and the club’s kindness and generosity, I have one less thing to worry about, and it has truly been a gift that I will not forget. Words can not express how much this means to me. I hope you are having a great fall so far, and I wish you and the club well for the holiday season.
Thank you so much,
